Fragment radostné vědy o trpaslících
Základem knihy je dlouhá stať o trpaslících, jejich druzích, národohospodářském významu a obecně o záležitostech ukrytých v zemi, ať již se jedná o základní věštebnou symetrii, etruské podsvětní bohy či obyčejné permoníky. Text je dále doplněn příbuznými esejemi o ostré hranici stínu, Sokratově vězení a současných ekonomických a klimatických změnách. Tyto záležitosti jsou hodnoceny převážně z hlediska převozníka trpaslíků, který si klade otázku, kam tento malý národ odešel. Nedílnou součástí knihy je CD Anarcheus s hudbou Pavla Fajta.
O autorovi:
Václav Cílek (*1955) vystudoval Přírodovědeckou fakultu Karlovy univerzity, obor geologie ložisek. V Geologickém ústavu AV ČR se nejprve zabýval uranovými ložisky a výzkumem měsíčních hornin. Po roce 1990 se naplno věnuje studiu klimatických oscilací a změn prostředí v nejmladší geologické minulosti. Od roku 1995 vede na Karlově univerzitě kurzy týkající se krajiny a historie. Jeho knihy Krajiny vnitřní a vnější (2002) a Makom. Kniha míst (2004) se staly literární senzací. Václav Cílek za ně obdržel Cenu Toma Stopparda za rok 2004.
Martin Bursík udělil RNDr. Václavu Cílkovi CSc., Cenu ministra životního prostředí za rok 2006.
RNDr. Václav Cílek CSc., který se zabývá různými aspekty environmentální geologie, ve spolupráci s přírodovědci různých oborů a archeology. Publikoval asi 300 odborných článků, kolem 400 esejí, spolupracoval na zhruba třiceti knižních titulech, z nichž nejznámější jsou asi jeho "Krajiny vnitřní a vnější". Cenu ministra získal za výrazný přínos k popularizaci české vědy, zejména geologie a klimatologie.
Václav Cílek se stal v roce 2009 laureátem Ceny Nadace Dagmar a Václava Havlových VIZE 97.
